Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, KAYE spent her childhood all over the globe, relocating to Singapore, Hong Kong, Arizona and Michigan all before she turned 18. Growing up in the suburbs of Phoenix, she became a full-fledged music obsessive, playing classical piano and teaching herself punk songs on her mother’s nylon string guitar. Upon moving to New York, KAYE began playing bass and guitar in a few groups, where a mutual friend connected her with San Fermin’s Ellis Ludwig-Leone. Impressed, Ludwig-Leone invited her to be San Fermin’s new lead female vocalist as part of a European tour, leading to a long-term relationship, including a collaboration on their most recent album, ‘Jackrabbit’ (Downtown).
As frontwoman, Charlene Kaye has played network television, major festivals like Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, and many sold-out shows.
